Farm Work

Role
Farm worker
Timeline
Various seasons

Before I was debugging cloud platforms, I was doing the kind of work that doesn't make a nice LinkedIn carousel: harvest, weeding, lifting, weather. Farm work recalibrates what 'hard' means and who actually feeds a city.

It also trained an engineer's eye that I still use. Systems fail at the edges. Water, labor, soil, and time are constraints you can't slide under a rug. Ecological engineering coursework and field work keep arguing with each other in a useful way.

Impact & outcomes

  • Built bodily knowledge of food production that still informs how I design systems.
  • Learned crew culture: pace, care, and not performing expertise you haven't earned.
  • Stayed accountable to land and labor, not just product stories.
